Project Architect

Do you love managing projects simultaneously while mentoring new talent? Are you excited by rolling
up your sleeves with day-to-day drawing, liaising with consultants and supporting your team to success?
Does participating in a project from conception to completion bring you great joy and satisfaction?

If so, Studio VARA is looking for a Project Architect:

 

  • Work with principals and Project Managers to oversee all phases of projects from schematic
    design through CA, including permitting and plan check.
  • Hybrid Structure; Full-time exempt position 9-6 Monday-Friday
  • In-person Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays at our SF Mission District studio; Optional WFH Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • Employer-paid full medical, dental & vision insurance, PTO, and 401k.
  • Salary Range: $115k – 140k / year, commensurate with experience

 

The Position:

 

  • Act as prime point of contact for CA and consultant coordination.
  • Lead the detailing, and full documentation of selected project interior & exteriors, and develop
    design in collaboration with the principals and team.
  • Generate outline specifications and schedules.
  • Assign and delegate tasks to team and effectively manage deadlines for production, renderings,
    presentations, and research.
  • Produce and manage project schedules, work plans, client correspondence, and documentation.
  • Review design, and documentation for Planning and Building Code compliance.
  • Review documents for QA/QC.
  • Uphold best practices and Studio VARA’s process standards and CAD standards.

 

What you’ll need:

 

  • 7-10 years of experience including multi-family, high-end residential, and/or commercial projects.
  • Degree from a school of architecture.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in Revit.
  • Technical knowledge of Type V construction, including past work in all phases of design and
    construction.
  • Superior written and verbal English communication skills with a positive attitude and ability to take
    direction from clients.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff – managing the delegation of production and responsibility for
    project documentation.
  • Modern design skills and the sensitivity to be very design detail oriented.

 

Preferred:

 

  • Experience with Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, V-Ray, 3D Max, and Enscape
  • 4-5 years project management or team-leading experience
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Licensed architect in California or in the process of licensure.

Project Manager

Does creating design concepts and overseeing a project from conception to completion bring you great joy and satisfaction? Are you a skilled Design professional with extensive experience managing projects? Do you enjoy building strong relationships with clients through clear communication and design excellence?
 

    If so, Studio VARA is looking for a Project Manager/Architect:

    • Lead the design and documentation of custom, high-end single-family residential work
    • Full-time exempt position 9-6 Monday-Friday, hybrid in-office at our SF mission district studio, and from home.
    • Employer-paid full medical, dental & vision insurance, PTO, and 401k.
    • Salary Range: $135K – $155K / year, commensurate with experience

        The Position:

        • Work with project principals to oversee all phases of projects from schematic design through construction administration.
        • Lead the design, detailing, and full documentation of interior & exterior architecture on selected projects.
        • Provide expertise across multiple projects across the office.
        • Assign tasks to staff and manage deadlines for production, renderings, presentations, and research, including interdepartmental coordination between the interiors and architecture teams.
        • Produce and manage project schedules, work plans, and documentation.
        • Develop and manage project budgets and fees.
        • Manage client relationships and set proper expectations around budget and schedule.
        • Manages, specifically with drawing deliverables schedules.

            What you’ll need:

            • Degree in Architecture
            • Licensed architect in California or in the process of licensure.
            • Minimum of 10 years of experience designing, documenting, detailing and custom high-end single family residential; experience in commercial and multi-family projects is a plus.
            • Experience managing clients that expect a high standard of service & attention.
            • Modern design skills and strong abilities in technical detailing for Type-V construction.
            • Exceptional skill in construction detailing and assemblies, management of construction documents and leading the production of a complete construction document set.
            • Thorough understanding of construction administration and means and methods.
            • Proficiency in Revit is expected; AutoCAD is a plus.
            • Knowledge of Procore or similar Construction Management software.
            • Thorough knowledge of AIA contracts, project specifications, and material research & development.

                Preferred:

                • Experience with Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite, Enscape and Twinmotion.
                • Experience with Type III over podium and other building types.
                • Proficiency in Word, spreadsheets, and Bluebeam.
