Prior to joining Studio VARA, Jack ran his own award-winning architecture practice in San Francisco for five years. During that time, he also organized and moderated “Many Paths Home: The State of Homelessness”, a symposium on homelessness and architecture in San Francisco, as well as being the 2017 AIASF Small Firms Chairman. When not in the studio one can find Jack at live jazz events in the Bay Area, biking in the hills of Marin, walking his dog in Golden Gate park, or at home working to perfect his homemade pasta sauce.
Jack brings a wealth of knowledge to Studio VARA from his many years of working on projects at local, national and international firms, especially in Berlin, Germany where is he is a member of the Berlin Chamber of Architects. His exposure to both European and American sensibilities informs his approach to finding thoughtful design solutions that reflect his client’s needs and desires. Jack strongly believes that design is a collaborative process between the client, design team and builders, from concept through construction.
